Interview Questions
So tell us a little on the company’s background? How did it get started?
It started 2 years ago when I wanted to introduce a watch that was clean and simple. Nixon and G-Shock had too many features I would never use, and that’s why they cost too much. Plus, cell phones are packed with tons of gadgets. I wanted a watch that 1) tells time 2) looks cool That’s TIKKR
What about the name? What is the significance or story behind it?
My mom came up with it, ma is a marketing genius, who knew?
In what region do you do most of your business?
It’s totally scattered right now
How many stores are you currently in?
30 or so
What advice do you have for someone just starting their own line? Any tricks of the trade?
SHIP! Don’t be afraid to just get your product out there and be judged. When in doubt; SHIP!
Do you manufacture local or internationally?
Internationally
How does your line fit into the sneakerhead movement?
They’re both about customizing crazy colors to fit your look. And choosing the right colors is a means of expression
What do you think the sneakerhead movement is missing from a retail perspective?
“Time”…..get it?
How many designs do you normally come out with per season?
Our designs don’t really operate on seasons, we like to introduce new colors for the right seasons. We have a glow in the dark and honeysuckle coming out for summer
What do you think your hottest designs are for this season? Why?
Summers are hot in Austin, TX, so I go with cool, clean, simple, comfortable
Anybody famous rocking your products?
A couple, but TIKKR is a watch for the people
What retail stores would you love to get into but haven’t been able to so far?
We’re looking at some of the large chain stores, Tilly’s, Zumiez, etc. but the time isn’t right, we’re staying happy with organic growth from stores with 4 or less locations
What’s next on the horizon?
A new design and world domination
Appreciate you taking the time with Soletron.com
