High School. Now those words ring out. Hopefully you made memories happen during those 4 (or 5 or 6) years of your life. Hollywood did the same. Below I’ve assembled five movies about teenagers and high school that I find particularly memorable.
1. Breakfast Club (4 out of 5 Stars)
The Breakfast Club is a classic. It’s still worth a first viewing even if you’re out of the teenage demographics
2. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (5 out of 5 Stars)
Ferris Bueller is the ultimate teenage rebel. Unlike most teenagers who just get pissy and lock themselves in their room, Bueller exacts his will upon society in a totally likable manner. He is an inspiration to men of all ages. His girl is cute too.
3. Encino Man (3 out of 5 Stars)
You remember this movie right? Samwise Gamgee wants to be cool so he digs a pool in his backyard so he can throw a party at the end of the movie. He unearths Brendan Fraser who becomes a facilitator of coolness in himself. And Pauly Shore does what he always does.
4. Napoleon Dynamite (3 out of 5 Stars)
Some people love this movie and some people hate it. Either way, it should be agreed that the movie is memorable (if not for how stupid it is). Too many teenage movies are about some protagonist who wants acceptance into a particular group. They always get into the group in the end or they realize that the group is lame. Napolean Dynamite is not this way so much. He is an uber nerd throughout, but he becomes endearing to us.
5. Brick (5 out of 5 Stars)
Brick is one of the best murder mysteries ever made. It portrays an interesting take on high school, which couldn’t be any different from High School Musical. It’s fast, smart, and suspenseful. This movie doesn’t follow a cookie cutter plot like many mysteries. See IT!
