Diana Nyad became the first person to make the swim from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida without a shark cage. It’s a feat that most of us can’t even fathom. 112 miles was the distance and she did it in 52 hours, 54 minutes, and 18 seconds. Her team of 35 people helped her accomplish the incredible swim. She had two doctors with her the entire way, as well has divers and scouts looking out for sharks. Among sharks, other obstacles included jellyfish, dehydration, and other health issues. She defied it all though and will live in history forever.
