David Beckham signed with the LA Galaxy in January of 2007. After 5 years, he’s decided to head back where soccer is known as futbol. Where soccer is even bigger than American football. I can’t say I blame him one bit…he went to LA taking an enormous pay cut. He made $6.5 million each year he played soccer in the US (endorsements not included). Cristiano Ronaldo, the world’s highest played futbol star, earns $17 million PER YEAR with Real Madrid. Not a bad gig, eh?
It obviously isn’t all about the money to Beckham. I believe he wanted to make soccer bigger and bring more excitement to the game in America. Since leaving Los Angeles, Beckham has signed a 5-month stint with Paris Saint-Germain. He’s stated that during his time there, he’ll be donating his salary to a children’s charity.
Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, PSG…what’s next for Beckham?
