Ever since the San Diego Chargers drafted Manti Te’o, they’ve made him off limits to the media. Understandably so, as Te’o has been in the spotlight for the past several months for the infamous girlfriend hoax. It’s seemed to work so far as Te’o has been able to focus on football and adjusting to a new team and a new league.
Chargers fullback Le’Ron McClain talked Te’o on SiriusXM NFL Radio:
“The guy came in, and he’s been working since he stepped on the field, stepped in the weight room. He’s caught everybody’s eye to see that he’s a great player.”
“I just think him handling this situation, everything that was down on him, he was still showing faith. He just wants to play football and be the best player he could be. I don’t even think about the (hoax) no more.”
“The sky’s the limit for (Te’o). I’m looking forward to seeing him on Sundays.”
It looks like Te’o is off to a great start so far and the Chargers have taken the right approach with him. It’s looking like he will be a starting linebacker for them in week 1 along with Donald Butler.
