The ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ theme song to the hit 90′s TV show is probably one of the most famous and popular television songs to date. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case in Pennslyvania, where apparently they’re slightly behind the times.
One of the songs famous lines, “Shooting some b-ball outside of the school” sounds an awful lot like, “Shooting some PEOPLE outside of the school,” right? Apparently it did to a medical receptionist in PA who was calling a 19-year-old Ambridge H.S. student to remind him of his upcoming optometrist appointment, but got his “Fresh Prince” themed voicemail instead, this according to the Beaver County Times.
The receptionist apparently never heard the song before and misinterpreted the kid’s message, in which he raps a few lines from the song, as a massive threat to GUN DOWN every student in school and she quickly called the cops to report it. The cops cannot take a mass shooting threat lightly so they immediately alerted the entire school district who then went into lock-down mode. Then cops then went searching for the teenage boy.
The boy was sitting in school when he was swarmed by police and taken into custody to be questioned. After he was questioned and they reviewed the voicemail song, it was determined he was in fact singing the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ song. According to reports, the district’s superintendent made a statement after the hugely embarrassing mistake and said, “It gave us a wonderful chance to review our emergency procedures.”
We’re thinking they don’t have cable television out there or 90′s rap songs. Let’s take it back and enjoy a little Fresh Prince theme song now.
