Harlem Reacts To Harlem Shake Video

As you probably have seen, Baauer’s Harlem Shake has gone viral. Most Harlem Shake videos stick to a basic theme. You play Baauer’s song, one masked person dances while everyone else ignores them. Once you hear “Do the Harlem Shake” everyone loses their minds and starts dancing. Simple enough. Only problem is, this is NOT the Harlem Shake we were introduced to in the early 2000′s. By no means is this the Harlem Shake that we loved to watch 10 year olds in baggy clothes do in Puff Daddy’s videos. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen a single “Harlem Shake” done in these Baauer videos. It was obvious that someone had to go to the streets of Harlem to find out what they thought about the new phenomena and let’s just say, Harlem isn’t all too thrilled.

The reaction in Harlem is pretty funny actually. As someone who’s grown up on the Harlem Shake and was a pre-teen practicing the moves, I can totally get their frustration. So check it out for yourself, which Harlem Shake do you prefer?
