The great thing is we get to find out Monday night. The Oregon Ducks were one of the best teams in college football under Chip Kelly. They had a fast tempo, high-octane offense. When the Eagles brought Kelly to Philadelphia, a new hope was instilled for Michael Vick and their offense. How will this up tempo offense translate to the NFL?
One obstacle is the referees. They have gone out of their way to make it clear that they control the pace of the game and not the coaches or players. This could prove troublesome for the Eagles as they hope to thrive off of the game pace.
Kelly will utilize LeSean McCoy a lot more than Andy Reid did, which will hopefully open things up a bit more for Vick. We could see the Eagles scoring upwards of 30 points a game, but their defense could give up just as much. Even if Kelly’s offense succeeds in the league, the defense could prevent them from getting the wins that they should. The curtain will rise for Chip Kelly and the Eagles on Monday night against the Washington Redskins.
