Ronald Lee Homer was waiting out a rain delay in the smoking section at Turner Field before he fell to his death. Homer fell about 65 feet from the fourth level and into the player parking lot before nine monday night. Homer appeared to be unconscious and may not have been breathing when the paramedics arrived. He was pronounced dead after they had gotten him to the hospital
Police are saying that the fall appears to have been an accident and that there is no evidence of foul play so far. There will be further investigation into the incident. The assumption at the moment is that Homer Died because of blunt force trauma to the head. Police are also waiting to get the results of a toxicology report.
Homer grew up in Conyers, GA. and was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was thirty years old when he died, and will be missed by his parents and sister. The Braves extended their condolences to the family as well as their assurances that they will be launching their own investigation of the accident. Many sports fans hope that this will lead to stadium improvements that will do a better job of keeping fans safe, so that something good can come from this tragedy.
