It took me a second to figure out how to work the OHP, but oh, I was pleasantly surprised by the reveal. I’ve never heard of the series before, but it has history. The original Hyperdimension Neptunia came out February 15, 2011 for the PS3.
In this release, the world of Gamindustri has returned to peace after the big bad Deity of Sin has been destroyed. All of the CPUs learn how to live with carefree lives and step out of the shadow of fear. That, of course, changes when Neptune the CPU of Planeptune, is swept away to a funkadelic dimension. It’s very similar to her beloved Gamindustri, but the overwhelming 80s feel is a curious difference.
Now, looking at the cute, shoujo style of this game, it can easily be typecasted as an “easy, cutesy, dungeon running game”. Never having heard of the series, I’d be willing to give it a chance. The aesthetic does look a bit on the gratuitous cute and skimpy side, but the gameplay appears more inviting.
Get ready to repair the fabric of reality on March 12th for North America and March 15th for PAL. Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is available exclusively for the PS3.
