Transformers 4 is not only going to have a brand new cast and story line but director MIchael Bay has promised that the series will take on a completely different feel now that stars like Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox have retired from the franchise. Not only will we be seeing different actors on screen, but in a recent interview with Forbes, Bay said that even the robots will look different as well.
In the interview, Bay explained, “We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first three movies is still there, we start four years later and there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast.”
Michael Bay rejected the thought of this being a reboot of the Transformers movies, saying, “No, that’s wrong. We keep the Transformers the way they were, it’s just four years later. There’s a reason the Transformers are redesigned. We’re trying to broaden the franchise and give it more places to go.”
It was reported a while back that Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys had the lowest sales out of the entire trilogy, so it’s no surprise that they want to redesign the franchise. Transformers 4 will hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
