Well she’s kind of putting out an album. Michelle Obama has coordinated the efforts of several singer, rappers and musicians to put together and album for her Let’s Move! campaign. The campaign and the album, called Songs For A Healthier America, are targeted towards the prevention of childhood obesity. It will have 19 songs and Mrs. Obama will appear in the video for ten of them. Sadly she will not be singing. The first lady is hoping that a hip hop album with fun songs about fruits and veggies that kids can dance to will help them to make healthier smarter diet choices.
While I think that the album seems like a cute idea it does have it’s detractors. Some feel that the first lady should have been able to get bigger names than Doug E. Fresh and Jordin Sparks considering the big names that have performed at the WHite House before. These people are expecting way to much from a program targeted towards educating kids in urban areas about how to make proper dietary choices.
The first song from the album will be released next month. The videos will be initially shown to students at New York City schools and then to students in major cities across the nation.
