It was made official this morning that Netflix landed an exclusive deal with News Corp.’s Fox Television Studios to bring the third season of AMC hit show The Killing to its members three months after the season finale. The show will premiere on AMC later this year and is available on Netflix for streaming in the U.S. and Canada, 3-months after it airs in the U.S.
Netflix announced, “The deal makes Netflix the exclusive subscription television service for The Killing season 3.” AMC had originally cancelled the show after 2 seasons, but the cable network was able to reduce it’s license fee and cut the budget where needed. The President of Fox Television Studios, David Madden said, “Our agreement with Netflix played an extremely significant part in the studio’s strategy that enabled us to bring The Killing back for a third season.”
The Killing is a drama that focuses on Seattle police detectives Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder as they investigate the murder of a teenager. The third season will have them tracking a brand new case.
