The New England Patriots want to sever ties completely with Aaron Hernandez and they’re taking action by trying to strip the Hernandez jerseys off the backs of kids and off the market completely. The Patriots have announced that fans can exchange their #81 Aaron Hernandez jersey for a brand new Patriots one.
The exchange is free of charge, and a spokesperson explains, “We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore.” If you recall, the Patriots cut Hernandez way before the murder charges were even announced – so if this whole exchange doesn’t say something about how they feel about him, we’re not sure what will.
The only catch to the entire exchange is that you have to bring in the jersey to exchange it on July 6th or July 7th at the team’s pro shop at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. So I guess they don’t care about Aaron Hernandez fans in other states, do they? Nope, if you aren’t local, you’re pretty much stuck with an ‘alleged’ cold-blooded killer on your back.
