Omar Epps is moving on from his days of playing Dr. Eric Foreman on the long-running Fox drama starring Hugh Laurie, “House.” Epps is set to star in the ABC drama by Criminal Minds‘ Aaron Zelman that’s based on a Jason Mott novel.
The Returned asks what happens when the people you have buried and mourned suddenly appear on your doorstep as if not a day’s gone by. Omar Epps will play Martin Bellamy, an agent with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He’s a former cop turned customs enforcement agent who decided to switch after being involved in a child trafficking case.
Epps’ character has no family of his own, but has a soft spot for children. He’s fascinated by Jacob, played by newcomer Landon Gimenez, a mysterious boy who popped up from nowhere in the middle of rural China. That ’70s Show alum, Kurtwood Smith has joined the cast as Harold, Jacob’s father, who is rattled by the mysterious reappearance of his son, who appears unchanged despite being dead for 32 years.
“The Returned” will begin filming in Atlanta, as it just wrapped it’s casting. Covert Affairs alum Devin Kelley will join the cast as well as Matt Craven, Frances Fisher, Sam Hazeldine, Samaire Armstrong, Nicholas Gonzalez and Mark Hildreth.
