Jack McDowell who the New York Yankees acquired prior to the season from the Chicago White Sox suffers a humiliating 11-4 loss in the Bronx to his former team. When leaving the mound McDowell is booed loudly by the fans at the stadium, as he holds up his middle finger walking into the dugout. It would be the only season Jack McDowell would spend with the Yankees, posting a 15-10 record with a 3.93 ERA.
