Marc Webb, director of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ has released the first image of Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich, aka The Rhino. Webb tweeted today, “Say hello to Aleksei Sytsevich,” with this picture below.
Giamatti is driving in the photo, appearing to be gripping the steering wheel tight and yelling. He has yet to be fitted with his signature ‘ surgically-attached ramming horn and body armor’ yet. Paul has a barbed wire tattoo across his forehead and more ink on his hands and arm.
The Rhino was always Paul Giamatti‘s favorite character as a child. In an interview with Showbiz Spy he said,
“I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit and I always thought, ‘Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies?’ but maybe The Rhino wasn’t that big of a deal for anybody but me. If they ever go with The Rhino I would be ready and waiting.”
Looks like a dream come true for Paul! “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
