Oscar-nominee Quvenzhané Wallis is set to take over Willow Smith‘s lead role in Will Smith and Jay-Z‘s upcoming adaptation of the Annie musical. Willow dropped out of the role as little orphan Annie after she grew up and grew out of wanting to work, instead telling her father she’d rather just be a kid.
At nine, Quvenzhané Wallis is already the youngest to ever be nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award. Will Smith and Jay-Z’s Annie adaptation, is set to be directed by Friends With Benefits and Easy A director Will Gluck. Annie will begin shooting later this year for a holiday 2014 release.
