Your search for a restaurant that offers a modern take on Cuban favorites ends here. De Rodriguez De Cuba Restaurant is located inside the Hilton Bentley Hotel on 101 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Florida.
De Rodriguez De Cuba serves up “Nuevo Latino Cuisine” dishes in the prime location of Miami Beach. This delectable food haven is named after its award winning, Chef and Owner, Mr. Douglas Rodriguez, and stands out as more than just another hotel restaurant.
Patrons can select from an extensive list of exquisitely crafted signature cocktails such as the Cojito – Cuban Martini (Coconut Rum, fresh lime juice and shredded coconut) to cool down or tap into your fiery side while sipping on the Passion Picoso (Tequila, fresh jalepeno, passion fruit puree, and lime juice). And if you want to keep it simple, try to Classic Mojito but be sure to pause and enjoy the freshness of the muddled mint and lime juice of the famous Cuban Cocktail.
The mariquitas (plantain chips) are accompanied with fresh salsa that bursts with smoky flavor and hints of chipotle. The cheese rolls are pillow soft and made with a Queso blanco that is addictive. Added bonus for all the health conscious food lovers is that the cheese rolls are gluten free! Be careful not to fill up on the complimentary mariquitas and cheese rolls because ordering an appetizer is a must.
Because I believe that the appetizer sets the tone for the evening, I highly recommend Gloria’s Frijoles Negros. This delicious black bean soup is jazzed up with crispy rice croquettes inside the soup.
Also, you would be remiss not to try the most popular appetizer on the menu– the Smoked Marlin Tacos. Prepared in a Malanga Root Vegetable Shell, the marlin is marinated in spiced rum and molasses and topped with picked jalapenos for a spicy kick in every bite. This powerful combination is flash of brilliance to your tastebuds.
The hearty Appetizers set the tone for the evening and complemented the amazing dishes that followed. The Ceviche menu offerings reflect the chef’s delicious complexity in creating a modern citrus flair and use of exotic flavors.
The Quarter Cerviche Tasting included: Salmon ceviche which is best described as asian fusion that dances on the palate. The Snapper Ceviche has a strong lemon sequence and savory aftertaste. The Tuna Watermelon Ceviche is spicy and fiery but the watermelon cools it. The Mixed Seafood Ceviche includes calamari, octopus, bay scallops, shrimp with celery lime, aji amarillo, tarragon, and grapefruit and was the clear winner. This unique mixed seafood selection is sweetly softened with candy grapefruit rinds to cleanse the palate with each bite.
For the next course, the Crispy Cuban Pork Belly made with Cuban oregano mojo was delicious. The skewered Sugar Cane Tuna was delicately prepared and the Vaca Frita is topped with peppers and served with black beans and white rice.
