On Tesla’s website the initial description of the Model S is four simple yet powerful words. Zero Emissions, Zero Compromises. That description alone is enough to make anyone understand why the Tesla Model S was a hands down winner for MotorTrend’s car of the year.

Underneath the beautifully sleek exterior of the Model S lies an innovation in motor vehicles that should if not will change the way we think about automobiles altogether. One thing missing from the exterior of the Tesla Model S is a tailpipe. This is due to the fact that the Model S uses no petroleum. It is not a hybrid. It is, in fact, a fully electric vehicle that runs off of energy that can be produced any number of ‘green’ ways. Be it wind power, coal, solar, or the wishes of innocent children. However energy is produced on the grid, Tesla can benefit from it. This means the greener we become, the more efficient each Model S becomes.

You would figure an all electric vehicle would be a perfect cop out for crappy performance. That’s where the zero compromises part comes into play. Tesla can definitely handle anything you can throw at it; boasting a 0-60 time of under 5 seconds and a 300 mile range on the high end. Top speeds for the Model S is about 130mph. Base price for a performance model will hit you for about $90,000. Not bad for the future of automobiles.
