A.J.: I’m Aj Steigman with Soletron.com. We’re here with Dzeko and Torres at Ultra Music Festival here in Miami. How are you guys doing today?
DT: “Doing really good yourself? Pretty good, you?”
A.J.: So, it’s pretty crazy outside.
DT: “Yes it is. Yeah.”
A.J.: Have you guys performed yet?
DT: “Yes we did. We performed yesterday, actually.”
A.J.: Yesterday, so how was that?
DT: “Pretty cool, actually. We played at the Echo Village Stage. It was actually a little bit better than we were expecting. We thought that the stage was going to be somewhere weird, but it was actually a pretty cool spot where a lot of people were like just chillin’ there and it worked out. We got a crowd, and it was fun. It was sick.”
A.J.: So do you guys think this is the biggest Ultra to date?
“DT: Yeah for sure. Sweedish House Mafia, and like even Deadmou5, Calvin Harris, Skrillex and all those guys playing this whole weekend. It’s crazy.”
A.J.: Yeah I know, it is nuts. So for guys who don’t know who you are, where are you representing out of?
A.J.: Toronto, nice. And how do you describe your music?
DT: “Sometimes techy. I don’t know. Big room, I guess.”
A.J.: So where do you guys get your inspiration from?
DT: “I don’t know. A lot of different places. One of our biggest inspirations from when we first started were labels like Din Mak and Mixmash and we finally got on there this past year. So it’s pretty exciting for us. We also like tech house music and deep house music, so we draw inspiration from that as well.”
A.J.: So what horizon, what are your recent release, what are you doing the rest of the year?
DT: “We have a track coming out called hurricane. I’m not sure what the release date of it is. We just had a track come out actually, Friday, yesterday.”
A.J.: And what was that?
DT: “Togi by Monstercats. And then we have a new Steve Aoki remix. I know we have a collab with Chuckie, and he’s going to be playing today.”
A.J.: So what collab would you want to do that you haven’t done before?
DT: “For me it would be Tiesto. The dream collab is Tiesto. He’s the man.”
A.J.: Besides Tiesto. Tiesto is the Godfather of everything. But someone who’s a little bit more mortal, who do you think you’d want to do?
DT: “I would say Jay Z.”
“Not necessarily another artist, like a producer, but I would like a vocalist like Foxes. She sang in a couple of Zedd tracks and stuff. She’s mind blowing. I would love to work with her.”
A.J.: What are your goals for your career. Where would you like to see yourself in two years, five years. When people think of you guys, what should be the first thing that comes to mind?
DT: “I think we’re in it to be serious and still have a little bit of fun. So as long as we can be doing this five years down the road and still having the same fun we’re having now and hopefully on a bigger scale, because I mean, we’re still trying to come up a little bit. As long as we’re still having fun and we’re playing great parties that’s fine for us. And having great tracks and maybe getting on the radio with some kind of progressivey kind of stuff would be great for us.”
A.J.: So any crazy fan stories while on the road?
DT: “He’s got the crazier stories not me.”
A.J.: So you’re the guy who has the crazy stories?
DT: “Honestly, I don’t know actually, we’ve never rally had any crazy stories when it comes to something like that.
A.J.: We got to keep it low key for the Soletron audience. Off camera we’ll get the exclusive on this.
A.J.: You guys do a lot of traveling. Favorite places to perform?
DT: “For me I would say New York. One of the best gigs we ever did, randomly, was Sudbury, Ontario. It was a smaller club, but the the crowd was just absolutely crazy. Like nuts. We played in Orlando, too, and that was a crazy crowd in Orlando. And I guess this week in Miami is gonna be insane. Santos Party House in New York was crazy too. This whole week we’re playing at four different pool parties in Miami and South Beach, so that should be pretty fun too.”
A.J.: Good stuff good stuff. To wrap up, anything you want to shout out to the Soletron audience here?
DT: “Check us out on facebook, twitter. We’re playing Tomorrowland. Come to Tomorrowland. I just wanted to say come check out our website www.dzekoandtorres.com and I hope everyone likes our stuff.”
A.J.: Perfect, thanks guys.
DT: “Thank you.”
