At the Marlins’ intrasquad game, Giancarlo Stanton got nailed in the helmet by top pitching prospect Jose Fernandez. The pitch completely got away from Fernandez and caught Stanton off guard. Stanton immediately walked away from the field. After the game, Fernandez was in the clubhouse with his head down…clearly shaken up. Stanton flashed him a smile and said, “relax.”

Fernandez is a young player and it’ll take him a couple days to pull himself back together and regain his confidence. Fortunately, Stanton is okay and there were no signs of a concussion. He should definitely start in the first spring training game on Saturday.
