So you are spending a Saturday in detention? Who will you be with? One criminal, one nerd, one jock, one freak and one pre-madonna are stuck on a Saturday at the High School library doing work for detention. As the day unfolds, they challenge themselves with life ideas and the social subculture that separates all of them in their normal cliques.

The flick stars Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy. They are asked to write a 1,000 word essay and decide instead to spend the time smoking pot and getting to know each other. The Principal wants them to sit and to not speak to each other for the entire day, a tall order. Judd Nelson plays the role of the criminal causing trouble and breaking all the rules standing up to the Principal played by Paul Gleason. So they become friends by divulging inner secrets about their lives. The nerd failed shop and the pre-madonna is a virgin and the criminal hates his alcoholic father. Only on one Saturday will you find laughter and cheer as this rag tag team of hooligans sits to be punished by Dick Vernon the Principal. As Molly Ringwald puts on her lipstick using her breasts, you will be surprised at the comedy from director John Hughes.
