Despite several rumors on twitter announcing his death, former defensive lineman for the Chicago Bears, William Perry is still very much alive. This is further proof that while twitter can be an excellent way of keeping people informed it can also be a source of misinformed panic, so be cautious. The 50 year old has had health problems in the past making it reasonable for some to assume that he had passed. The confusion started when the Clemson University football account tweeted that the legend had died. They heard that someone named William Perry had passed and thought that it was their illustrious alum. The staff for the twitter have since apologized for their mistake once it was made clear that Perry was still very much alive. Reports from Perry’s representatives were dealing with calls and emails from various media outlets about the player and consistently said that he was doing well, which was backed up when Perry tweeted from his own account later in the day. He was known as “The Fridge” during his time as a player because of his 350 pound body, which helped the Bears when Super Bowl XX during his rookie season after he was drafted from Clemson. Perry scored three touchdown that season under the coaching of Mike Ditka.
