It seems as if the future has arrived. I find myself saying that a lot lately but this story should blow your mind. As of February 18, the FDA has approved a substance that can be sculpted using a 3D printer to make bone and skull structures. An unknown patient had only 25 percent of his skull in tact. First using a scanner, the medical team reconstructed, printed and successfully grafted the rest of a skull to the patient. what is really interesting is that the substance used to produce the skull can actually promote cell and bone growth. There are far reaching effects of this technology, wounded soldiers and trauma victims come to mind.
