Yankees GM Brian Cashman let Chipper Jones know that he is wanted in New York. What team wouldn’t want Jones? One of the greatest switch hitters of all time, if not the greatest. The Yankees are definitely in a bind with a flurry of injuries in the offseason. A DH role could’ve been an enticing idea for the retired Brave. But that’s exactly what he is…an Atlanta Brave.
The Associated Press got a statement from Chipper’s agent, B.B. Abbott via text saying, “he has the utmost respect for the Yankees’ organization, but his legacy is and will always be with the Braves.”
It’s very safe to say there would be riots breaking out all over Atlanta if Chipper Jones put on pinstripes. But he is certainly a man of his word and is clearly enjoying retirement.
Enough with the rumors! While I am flattered about the speculation of being enticed out of retirement, I’m happy with life as a bad golfer!
